The mission of the Oil Sands Sector Index™, is to provide institutional and retail investors with a recognized benchmark that tracks the growth of one of the largest reserves of oil in the world. The index is designed to invest in the companies that best represent the current and future production of the oil sands. The index is updated annually on the anniversary of the start date, June 30, 2004 based on developments in the sector and input from an investment advisory board of industry experts. The index was created and is maintained by Derek Gates, CFA, Sustainable Wealth Management Ltd. The ultimate goal of the Oil Sands Sector Index™ is to provide global investors with a simple and efficient method of targeting this high growth industry of the North American energy sector. In addition, the index will provide institutional investors with a benchmark to compare performance. Hedge funds and index traders will have the ability to actively trade the industry and apply arbitrage strategies.
